GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Students DO NOT have to be enrolled in a Certificate Program to take our courses; however, pre-requisites must be met.
  • To enroll in individual courses or in one of our Certificate Programs, find the location of interest to you and follow the course registration instructions below.

COURSE REGISTRATION

  • To register for courses in Edmonton, Calgary and Red Deer, please register on-line or fax or e-mail our Registration Form.
     

CLASS ATTENDANCE and LETTERS OF ATTENDANCE

  • Our training is very practical in nature, and there is little to no homework or exams.
  • However, students are expected to attend 100% of the training in order to receive a Letter of Attendance.
  • Failure to discuss any absences with the Education Department and/or your instructor before the training may result in withholding the letter of course completion.
  • Upon completion all required courses in Conflict Management and successful Assessments in Mediation and Negotiation, students receive a Certificate in Conflict Management.
  • Upon completions of all courses in Arbitration and successful completion of exams, students receive a Certificate in Arbitration.

MEMBERS’ TUITION DISCOUNT RATE

  • To qualify for the “members” tuition discount, each student must be a current AAMS member at the time they enroll. If students want the course discount, they need to submit a membership application and receive notice that their membership application was approved before registering for any courses to obtain the course discount.. Please note that memberships can take up to a month to process.

COURSE START TIMES

Unless otherwise noted

  • All day courses commence promptly at 8:30AM and finish at 4:30PM unless indicated otherwise in an e-mail confirmation.

AAMS IN-HOUSE COURSES (COURSES ON DEMAND)

  • Certain elective and special courses that are not available in the calendar may be held by student request at any of our locations.
  • Any individual, or group of students, who wishes to take a course not offered in the calendar, or wish specific dates, may phone the AAMS office and put his/her name on a waiting list.
  • Courses will be offered when the minimum number of students have registered.

COURSE REGISTRATIONS / CANCELLATIONS (Course Registration Form 2010)

  • Students may register right up until the course begins; however, course cancellation/confirmation deadline is 7 days prior to course start date.
  • Please note that if the minimum number of students is not reached 7 days prior to the course start date, the course will be cancelled. So remember … Early registration is recommended!

 

COURSE CANCELLATIONS / AAMS IN-HOUSE COURSE CANCELLATION REFUNDS

For all courses, AAMS follows a cancellation procedure similar to other campuses across the province.

  • Students will receive 100% of their course fees if a course is cancelled or re-scheduled by AAMS and for illnesses confirmed by a medical doctor in writing.
  • Students will receive a 100% refund LESS a $50 administration fee provided the withdrawal request is received in writing by the AAMS office EIGHT days prior to the course start date.
  • No refund will be issued to students withdrawing within the SEVEN days period prior to the course start date. 
  • Effective November 1, 2008, AAMS will no longer offer credits towards courses.  AAMS will only be giving refunds for course withdrawal or cancellation as outlined above.
  • Effective November 1, 2008, a $50 administration fee will be charged to any changes requested by a student eight days prior to the course start date (i.e. change dates, change location, withdrawal, etc).

CUSTOMIZED TRAINING

  • AAMS is pleased to offer any of its regular or customized courses to groups of individuals from any organization at any location within or outside Alberta.
